Bristol Sunwalk - July 2008
I think everybody felt the same when waking up on Sunday morning, oh no, it's raining! However, we steeled ourselves and set off to travel to Ashton Court in Bristol for the Sunwalk, Walk the Walk's daytime half marathon event.
As soon as we got to Ashton Court the rain stopped and the sun came out. Whilst the start was slightly delayed the weather was kind to us with one small shower about half way round. Several of our group even got a suntan!
Whilst the half marathon course is hilly it certainly gives you a sense of achievement at the finish. It's become a very popular event and certainly raises a few eyebrows from bemused tourists who must wonder why over two thousand women and numerous men walk round Bristol wearing bras in broad daylight.
Well, we all know the answer and hopefully now they do too! We had a fantastic time, there wasy plenty of support on the course and numerous bands playing colourful music to keep us going.
Most people spent a little time at the finish to have a rest, eat some lunch and enjoy the atmosphere. Thank you Bristol for a fab time and hope to see you next year.
